On Saturday, August 18th, Ottawa Public Health joined the Overbrook Community Association to celebrate Overbrook Day. It was a beautiful day that brought together area residents in a variety of activities. Overbrook Day included a soccer game, a community barbecue and an outdoor moving night. Hundreds of people attended, meeting their neighbours, having fun and learning about community resources.The highlight of the event was the unveiling of a mural created by 15 youth in the community with the help of a local artist. The Overbrook-Forbes Community Resource Center, the Overbrook Community Center and the Overbrook Community Association made a successful application to Crime Prevention Ottawa’s “Paint it Up!” program. Paint it Up provides funding for an outdoor mural project that supports graffiti prevention, community safety and decorates the neighbourhood through youth empowerment and community arts. read more..
